EXCERPT FROM A LITTLE BIT OF HONEY

Scene: Aliyah Neal, African America, single, successful, intelligent and beautiful is having dinner at the home of her good friends, A Nigerian couple, Kanmi and Oya.

"What about your personal life, Aliyah, are you happy?" Kanmi asks.

"Happiness is relative, Kanmi." Aliyah stopped eating and put her fork down. "I am happier owning my own home than I was renting an apartment. I am happier being an editor than I was being just a feature writer. And I am happy to have good friends like you and Oya in my life. I could be happier if I had a relationship with someone, like what you and Oya have. I would love to have a man to share my life with, but I am not going to settle for just anyone just to say that I have a man."
